Doing some thinking on this one and it looks like a viable trade. The Passat will get traded (negative equity and all
) and the payment on the Yukon will be about $50 a month cheaper. Insurance savings will be about $50 a month as well.
Tiger Mom will miss the Passat but this looks like a pretty comfortable car for us to road trip in. Thoughts about the 2006 Yukon Denali? I like the 6.0 over the 5.3 and I think it has the 4L80 mated to it. Anything else I should be wary of?
Denali
My commuting needs are met with the Ranger and the Miata is still there on standby.
Just bought a 2005 Yukon Denali XL.
Very comfortable, plenty of power (2006 might be 345hp)
It's happiest at 75 mph but surprises me from a stop too.
Will tow 7-8k iirc.
I paid $3,000 for mine but it's still a lot of truck for the money

I'm pretty sure the Denalis have the 4l65e, along with the Escelades which use the 6.0 as well, only the 2500s got the 4l80e
Missing a lug nut cover and the bumper is misaligned which makes me think accident.

I believe that to be true as well.
At 135K, that should have LOTS of miles left in it, and are serviceable everywhere.
Some of your $100/mo. monthly savings will obviously be eaten up in gas consumption, but the Yukon should eat a lot less dollars in the long run in maintenance vs. any VAG product.
The SUV's changed body styles in '07, so the '06's were pretty much an end of run of the older chassis... which can be seen as a good thing, as typically all the kinks are worked out by the end of any given product run, so long as you don't mind the aesthetics of the "older" looking vehicle.
great choice overall, without seeing the specific vehicles
Dealer with Yukon is a game playing assclown. Offered me a laughably, ney offensively low trade in for the Passat. And refused to budge a dime on their SUV so berkeley them.
I did take Tiger Mom out for a bit this afternoon to test drive a few different things. We found a 2006 Escalade ESV (I felt like I should have spinners on it) that was pretty pimp
. They have a bit of work to do on it still and some number crunching. We'll see on Tuesday if they want my business or not.

+3. No 4L80E in the Yukons or Caddys. Well, not put there by GM anyway...
That 4L80E really should be hooked to the 6.0. (And a 14Bolt) in my Denali
What a combo that'd be!
Man.. I want one of these...
One of what?
I want to know where ebonyandivory found a 6.0 Denali for 3 grand....
