I was going to make a post about this earlier. It got me excited. I really haven't looked too much into yet. Is there a two-door offered? I didn't think there was. Two-door hatches and rally in the same sentence is golden for me. Again, I haven't researched it yet, but I am impressed with Ford lately.
On special stage they said no 2 door in the US, but they are ammending the homologation yadda yadda, so that it supports the US spec 5 door car. Kit for the 5 door is slightly different as a result.
Very good idea. I'll be interested to see the final pricing. While it appears to be expensive on the surface, I think when folks really have a good look, the pricing will be very fair for what is received. I think folks put more money into rally prep than they realize most times. So it might be a little shock to see the price up front. Sadly many end up paying that much anyway, as they get nickeled and dimed on their way to a complete car.

Don't get too worked up yet. Hopefully you are converting the british prices as those don't translate over with just the exchange rate.
It will be spendy, but will be similar to the real costs of prepping a car on your own, the bonus being you are receiving components engineered to work together in a rally environment.
To build a similarly competitive car you'd be looking at the same numbers if you farmed out the same amount of labor.
$35k is a lot of money but I don't think it's out of line for a fully developed rally package.
The gear box alone is a fat chunk of money.
I thought "big deal" on that HP #......
Sentra Spec V = 15.29 #/hp.
Challenger V6 = 15.27 #/hp
FIESTA = 13.39 #/hp
WRX = 11.97 #/hp
STi = 11.13 #/hp
Not that I can really afford any of these cars.......BRING US THE 2 DOOR!
This is why I LOVE Ford:

The ONLY American automaker with its head sufficiently far out of its ass to make it through a downturn without panhandling like some scruffy no-count bum.

+plus an awful lot.
A package like this probably won't make sense unless you're running the rally series. Individual parts from the Ford Racing catalog, however....
haters always find something to hate. can i get rally parts for a new model from nissan, toyota, honda, etc? perhaps a shorter list would be the list of new cars sold in the US for which i can get rally parts from the manufacturer. bitches.
Ford has had some good cheap suspensions setups in the past like the focus svt, and zx2 s/r kits. Very reasonably priced and good performers. Granted this is of a much higher magnitude, but I would bet it is still a good deal.
On that note, I'd rather have the two door. I don't care if it comes as a mazda2 or fiesta, just bring the two door hatch!

amen
That's cool, I wonder why they didn't mention this when I was at Team O'Neil a couple weeks ago for a rally school.
I think this is based on the tuning at the school because I was talking to an instructor and he mentioned they got the suspension almost perfect but they were still working out a few small details. I can tell you that these cars rotate beautifully using left foot braking.
Also for the comment that FWD is a boring rally car...try it.
