Im not sure i see how this could be fun basicly the point is to drive as far as you can up the side of a cliff in a tube frame jeep thing, then tumble back down to the bottom with only a helmet and neck brace for saftey equipment.
I'm sure that the area welders love the business.

I'm not sure I see how this could be fun. Basically the point is to drive around a parking lot, no more than 35 miles per hour, never reaching third gear for less than a minute at a time. I mean, these guys don't even need a helmet or a neck brace for safety equipment!
It's not my thing either, despite my love for Jeeps and 4 wheeling. For the record, most of these guys wear the helmet, neck brace, a HANS type device plus straps for their arms and legs. Then of course there's the 1248-point roll cage.
Those are some stout cages.
I like how the Green machine had sponsor stickers on the undercarriage. Guess he spends a lot of time upside down.

Those guys remind me a lot of the local mud boggers. They expend all this time, energy, and money and put together purpose-built vehicles to go through mud holes and not get stuck. But the truth is, at the end of the day, they aren't really happy until they do get stuck, and have to get one of the others to pull them loose.
It makes for a better story, I guess..

I'm not really sure how they expected to get past that vertical projection, though the one guy came damn close. This one looks more fun:

I would agree based on that video. That course doesn't look fun at all and the lot is way too small.

At least they are just as crazy.
The last guy lost his helmet, WTF...
Me - Hey honey I've decided to quit Autocross, all those 30-40 second runs are taking up too much time. I want to try something where the runs only last 3-4 seconds each
Wife - Cool, I guess those shorter runs will be less wear and tear on the car too.
Me - Eerr yeah sure, except the bit where you destroy the car every run as it fall 100' down a shear cliff destroying the roll cage, ripping off the suspension and pulling of my helmet each time yeah!
Wife - THWACK
Me. - ZZZZzzzz zzzzz zzzzzz zzzzz

As both an offroader and an autocrosser, I'd say they're roughly equal in work / fun ratio. And getting stuck isn't the fun part, it's just that getting stuck usually comes along with having a lot of fun
I don't really understand 'off-roading' as a sport, but my brother is a redneck, it's kinda funny. He & his buddies do go out intending to get their trucks stuck.
One day, he got his truck stuck. Got our mom's truck, got it stuck. Called his buddy, who got his truck stuck. Then they got our parents tractor stuck. Finally, he went and borrowed a fire truck with a winch, and got it stuck, before using the winch to get them all out. The whole ordeal lasted about 8 hours...and was in our parents yard.
Whats not to understand? Driving a vehicle to places a vehicle has no business being, and getting away with it.
Mud bogging on the other hand....
One thing about those vehicles that is pretty cool is it appears if they go fast enough they can drive across water for a farily long distance. I can see the racing up the hill part, its just the getting back down on a course like the video i posted that i dont quite see the fun of. lol
Just make sure your cage is installed properly!
Roll cage install fail

In picture 8 I think you can see the rear legs of the roll cage sticking through the floor, right around the back of the door

Now THOSE are some dedicated corner workers...
Crazy: doing the same thing over and over and expecting different results...
Fun to watch though.
Yeah but it's frikkin poetry when it comes together!
Me? I'd be horitontal 600 feet off the ground and get a carburetor hiccup. Oy.
