Not that Cap. Raceway was a gem of a track or anything but it is local. Local enough I can hear and smell it. Lots of us crapital and referred to racing there as slumming it. I hope they work something out soon. It was a fun place to spend a Friday night and run a 1/4 against your friends and not on the street.
Ran there a few times before they fixed the "transition"
at the end of the track.
Seems like most of the guys I know who used to go to Cap alot head down to MIR anyhow most of the time these days....

Yeah, most of the serious racers left a few years ago. But MIR is a hefty trip just for a few runs down the 1/4.
It just seams with out a low lever race venue for the boy racers to have fun at its going be taken to the streets. Like when we use to race at Metro and V street. The city of Crofton has been building up lately and there have been lots of complaints about the track noise. These people act like they didn't know it was here when they moved in. Property value is going up too with the additions of lots of new commercial building.
You think some of these people raced there, back in the day?

I bet they did.

I lived in Crofton briefly when I was a kid - from about age 10-13. I distinctly remember hearing the dragstrip. Unfortunately, I never actually got to see any racing there. This was in the early 70's.
I agree losing any venue these days is a shame.
At least its only lease issues in this case....
...not dumbass people that move near a racetrack, then complain about the noise after the fact. There have been talks of closing the Old Dominion Speedway venue for years and that always came up as a primary issue, but just a few weeks ago was the first I heard of it possibly being relocated...

(they have 1/8 mile dragstrip here too, I think wednesday nights you can just roll in and run damn near anything on the strip)
Yeah Old D is moving and they are building a bunch of houses there. Read about that a few months ago in the local paper.
