A CFRP-framed electric car with a battery suitable for a grocery-getter weighs more than an aluminum & steel-framed electric sports car with a bigger and older battery?
That's the first time I've seen a curb weight number for the i3. I'm not entirely sure that's accurate.
Challenge: Look at the photos and don't think "Carbon Fiber Gremlin."
Challenge: get road head.
somebody mentioned in a comment under the article.. why do electric cars have to look so funky?
The Focus EV and Tesla Model S are as normal looking as anything. The Leaf and RAV4 EV are a little more funny looking. The BMW i series is just insane. I'm amazed these shapes actually manage to come together into a car.
Now, why do show cars have to have such implausible tires?
BMW has a perfectly nice looking electric 1 series, but they are going to make that ugly thing instead, it doesn't make sense to me.
