Three very different eight cylinder cars.

I'd never heard either a Ford Voodoo or a Bugatti Type 35 before. The Ford had a hilarious repertoire of noises and really does sound cool. But the Bug! I'd never made the visceral connection to its racing heritage. You see the pre-war style and you think it's just going to chug. Instead, it sounds like the winning Grand Prix car that it is. ANGRY, with a whap whap blip of the throttle off idle. We had a track to ourselves all day so I just listened and watched the old boy pound around. Excellent.
It was a good day.
Do you have really cool friends or was this some sort of official event?

Keith Tanner: Making you wonder why you like him, instead of hating him like you should, since forever.
Blame Canada?
Ha! My job for the day was "hanging out". All of these cars belong to someone else
We were at Willow Springs for a DriveTribe video shoot, and they brought along the Mustang for shenanigans. It'll make for a fun opening for their video. The Bugatti was one they had shot earlier, but offered some track time for a little bit of video but mostly because it was fun. Everybody had a good time. As a bonus, I got to meet two writers I'd been reading for over a decade - Jethro Bovington and Henry Catchpole.
That sounds like 2 porn names...

He didn't state what kind of writers they are.
I assume that's a Pur Sang not an original Bug? Not that there is any difference other than the year of manufacture.
My son and I both watched in awe as one of those Type 35s ran up the hill at Goodwood and posted a really good time, faster than some of the modern machinery.
Yeah, it's a Pur Sang, brought out by the Pur Sang guys. Hilarious fun watching it slide around the tight little track. Will a 2016 Mercedes F1 car bring out a crowd in 2106? It'll be a lot harder to get off the trailer, that's for sure...
Jethro and Henry wrote for Evo for years, now they're with DriveTribe
The Bugatti Type 35 may just be my favorite car ever.

Jethro Bovington sounds like a guy born in the Deep South and adopted by a billionaire... just missing "The Third".
Catchpole? Sounds like my ex-girlfriend.
Sounds like a great day. Love to see (hear) that Bugatti though.
Gotta love the Pur Sang. It's at the top of my lotto list, forget a modern dick swinging hyper car. Buy a perfect recreation of a 20's Grand Prix car and drive it daily. They are so accurate that most of the T35's you see in historic racing are really Pur Sangs while the owners keep the real things under lock and key. It's far easier to risk $250K getting smooshed than $10mil. YOu know it's legit when Buggati themselves endorse it and build a Pur Sang edition of the Veyron. I heard that the owner drove one accros America on the road all the way. Makes a trans continental trip in a Lotus 7 seem tame doesn't it.

In reply to Adrian_Thompson:
Jessi Combs did a cross-country drive in a Per Sang T35 earlier this year. She documented a lot of it on her FB page. I understand it'll be put together into some sort of TV show.
I have heard the Type 35 and I concur.

This was the car and the guys who made that trip. San Francisco to New Hampshire. And they did mention that most classic Bugatti race cars are running their blocks.
Best part was at the end of the day, they were looking at the damage to the tires and just laughing with joy.
Your DriveTribe is going to be better then mine.
