Randy Pobst stopped by to check out the Miata.
We think we have found the culprit to our fuel tank issue. It has been fixed, hopefully, so we will see what happens when we get back on track tomorrow morning.
Good Morning from CMP! Teams are getting their cars prepped and ready to go on track. We are checking tire pressures and getting the car ready to head to grid.
And here is the link to keep up with live timing for today:https://racehero.io/events/ldrl-southern-dawg-delight-2024
Okay almost one hour in and we are holding on to first. Wayne is getting ready to get into the car for hour 2 before our break in todays racing.
We are green for the final part of the race. Johnny is in the car and he is working his way up the field.
So far good after the restart! We're sitting in 7th overall, but expecting to gradually fall off as we stop more often for fuel than our competitors.
I also just learned that I'm currently sitting with the fastest lap of the race so far (1:46.868). This car is working well!
And this is when it all falls apart. Another stop, this one very slow--our fuel is boiling and it's taking forever to pour more into the tank. Once we fix this problem, our car will be competitive. For now, though, it's the fastest car on track yet we'll be lucky to crack the top-20 by the end of the day.

Didn't we have this problem last time?
Okay so we are back in the paddock still fighting out fuel pressure issues. We are going to dig into it and make a fix to get back on track.
In reply to Noddaz :
Wayne is out on track now so we will see if he reports back of any issues. I should clarify that the pressure issue is that the fuel tank is pressurizing and was pushing fuel out the cap.

I replaced, cleaned and tested the vent system, and it had enough capacity during our test days. But it's so warm, and we're running the car so hard here, that it was boiling fuel and pressurizing the tank faster than the OEM vent system could relieve it. Our plan for a year or two now has been to make the car reliable, then install the 24-gallon tank we need to be competitive. We'll fix our fuel issues during that process.
We finished the race! We set the fastest time of the day and sorted more issues but we ended the race under a checkered flag. Now to load the car on the trailer and plan our next move to improve the car even more.

Wonderful! Finishing is a win of it's own, and setting the fastest lap for the event is excellent.
I'm impressed, and happy for you.
