Catching up on work.  After 8 weeks off for surgery and with Kelly not working for a few weeks my schedule got busied for me.

Insulated and sheathed the 2nd-to-last wall of my 13’x20’ shed-turned gym/auto shop Friday (day one of my weekend) and Saturday decided I’d burn some paper/cardboard in my 55 gallon drum with my always faithful 7 year old daughter and dog which turned out to be a family gathering after my wife and two other kids and  joined us for pizza while listening to iHeart Radio through the shed audio system.

The kids enjoyed the glow of the red-hot bottom 1/2 of the barrel.

Putting some holes in paper with my new M&P9 2.0. Should be a... blast laugh

I did that exact thing recently! Lots of fun! Taught my kid what recoil is after years of only B.B. guns and Airsoft

I’ve been replacing the T-12 fluorescent lights in my garage with LEDs.

The garage is now fully equipped with LED lights. It is very bright and they are very quiet.laugh

Pulled the transmission on a 2004 MINI.  Symptom was clutch just stopped engaging at a light.  (Son was driving).  I got to him and rowed it through the gears with no engagement at all.  Towed it home and checked the clutch movement.  Pushing the clutch and it moved freely without issue.  Assumed the throwout bearing went.

Now that the transmission's sitting on my floor, throwout bearing looks good, clutch fork moves fine (no binding), pressure plate, clutch and flywheel all look good.  Clutch is dated 2013.  I'm trying to figure out how thick it should be, but it's not to the rivets (about 7.2 mm thick).

I'm baffled and now wondering if I pulled the transmission for no reason.....

I have a couple 2x2 surface mount LEDs and an 8' T4 fluorescent fixture that are just waiting to replace the single ceramic A-lamp socket that currently lights my garage.  They've been waiting a long time.  Instead of cussing the inadequate lighting I have, I need to get off my lazy ass and hang them.

Finished rebuilding one of the posts on my front porch, my first "on my own" carpentry project and beer.

Circleville Pumpkin Festival ends on Saturday and we didn't know that. We got about halfway there before a friend texted us to let us know that. We redirected to Circle S Farms - they have a hay barn, pumpkin picking, hay bale caves, etc. Our 2-year old had the best time I've seen her have yet. She was all smiles and enjoyed the heck out of everything.

Unfortunately (in some ways) I was so tired after getting back that I took a nap with her instead of working on the MR2. I did get some MR2 time in after bedtime. I have all the mechanical stuff disconnected and wiring harness out. All that's left is fluid lines to disconnect (hydraulic clutch line, fuel line, coolant lines) and the engine and trans are ready to drop out.

I did get some shop cleaning done.

All told it was a great weekend but it sure wasn't the challenge!

Wife was out of town, so I was 'super-dadding' it with a toddler and an infant. But the in-laws did come by on Saturday so I could move stuff out of my recently deceased grandpa's house with my parents.

Talked with the 'overly-active-in-the-town-hall-meetings' neighbor lady about moving our mailboxes from the main road down to our own driveways. Then after my wife came home I dug a post hole in the rain. I learned that the stupid 'clam shell' style post hole digger actually has some usefulness when you have the cutter style (not the full on auger one) and the hole is full of water and gravel.

I think I need to get to the Challenge soon both for the cars and the comradery.
