I'm here to talk you out of this poor idea.
no I'm not.
If it had double the mileage, I'd still do it.
I take issue with the "nothing can be changed" bs.... As long as you are rebuilding to a nearly stock configuration, the smog police don't have a case. Now if you dump compression, change all 4 cams out, change the pulley, etc, you're on the radar.
Ok I am going to put the pin back in the grenade real quick. Keeping ther grenade though.
So I called Roush like a normal human being. The kit for my truck is on a 12 week backorder. There are people on the list ahead of me as well. There are kits out there at suppliers already that could be in stock and they highly suggested finding one in the wild. They offer full support of the kit but will not help on used or eBay sellers that are not registered with them which I would expect. I think I could call around and get one at 6600-6700$ straight up if they had it in stock without tax if they are out of state from a good seller.
The good, the Gen II kit, in stage II makes 650hp, it comes with everything from the tune to the injectors in the box its a one check box order. It is fully CARB legal with the smaller pulley, it comes with the tune for both the stage 1 and stage 2. It will run on 91 octane. The only bad is that I get the tune but need special equipment to flash the ECU directly. Not sure if I can find someone to do that locally or what it will cost. It does increase the RPM over the stock truck but nothing crazy like 300rpm according to the dyno sheets I have seen and a lot of that power is up higher then you would expect. The install requires a bit of cutting of some bosses on the motor so it looks like oit is a one way install.
Online I have found a few people who have done this on higher mileage trucks with success. I only use the truck around 2.5K miles a year and I am not going to drag race so it appears that they are very reliable and I will not need to build the transmission. The 6 speed is very robust apparently.
I fully support this idea. Have you considered transplanting it into a Fox Mustang first? I want you to have the most fun you can with this project.

So he can have yet another project.... oh I'll be quiet now.
Look at the torque at 2000. 500 lb-ft! Not only will it make huge horsepower, it's also going to tow like a diesel.
I had a TRD blower on my 3.4 Tacoma. Towed my fishing boats with it. The torque curve on positive displacement blowers is awesome.
Whipple has an EO number on their stage 2 kit as well. Just another option if you are looking for one.

I worked with a guy who had bought a roush F150 from the Ford dealer brand new with a warranty. It seemed pretty tamed when we'd drive to lunch. He daily drove it for at least 3 years. And I don't recall him ever complaining about it.
Sold it for a nearly 1000hp Trackhawk that he dd's lol
I added a supercharger to my 150K tacoma ,now it has 254 k .I smile every time it makes that cute little sound !
The only reason not to do it would be the cost, so if that's not an issue, go for it!
I do hate it when companies won't support their products if they're used. What happens to the guy you sell your truck to after you've supercharged it? What if he needs parts or support? Pretty lame to hang the next guy out...
