thread removal

A buddy of mine gave me a suit he doesn't use anymore which fits me perfectly. He has his name sewn into the waist band. Can a seamstress remove thread from the suit without harming it? if so can he/she sew my name where his name was? any response is appreciated.... btw its a puma suit

A good seamstress should be able to remove the threads, but it may take a few washings for the fabric to "relax" around where the name was, to the point where you can't see it any more. Certainly you could have your name put there then.

I have to admit, when I opened this thread about thread removal, this is not quite what I expected. I was thinking this was the new ignore thread.

I buy lots of cloths from thrift stores … that's all pre-worn

Don't get me started on used laptops...

When I got hired I needed some blue shirts to wear until my uniforms came in. I was walking through Greenwich Village and stopped in a vintage shop to pick up a few. I guess a fat bus driver had died recently and his kids have away his clothes. I picked up six uniform shirts and a blazer they stopped issuing years before. As a bonus the shirts had our old logo that was no longer used so some customers figured I had time on the job and left me alone.

Some of you guys wouldn't survive being poor...how did you get here?
