So, last year I was supposed to do my part bringing brats to the Thursday night grill event but some bitch had to run a red light and ruin my plans. I REALLY didn't enjoy calling my butcher Wed morning from the ICU and tell him I wasn't picking up the 60 brats I had ordered. I may be permanently banned, not sure yet.
On that note I plan on reattempting the cook out portion of that story at this years Challenge. Grill has been salvaged from Goodwill (thanks Kurt) and I'm going to drop by the butcher today and hopefully order some meat. I plan on going traditional. Brats, buns, a little sauerkraut on the side and yellow mustard. Anybody going to get their panties in a twist if I don't bring ketchup?

I'm commando so no problems here. I'm sure I asked last year but if I bring the makings do you mind grilling up something for my son? He's a picky little SoB at eating.
I'd be happy to provide condiments and beverages for the this maybe even some chips or sides if you guys are lucky.
Oh, can somebody grab some plates and liberate a big roll of paper towels from a rest area somewhere?
Mini-challenge: the $2.16 parking lot bbq. Feed as many ppl as possible for $2.16
I'll bring plates and paper towels.
i can bring ketchup packets, i got take out from bob evans the other night and they gave me like 50 of them.
also, if needed i'll stop somewhere and get hot dogs for the small people that don't appreciate a brat, like stampie's kid. and probably mine too
kraut = winning at life. mustard = ewww. i can bring cleveland's finest bertman ballpark mustard if anyone wants me to. i still don't eat it, but people around here swear by it. everyone but me, i'm the only one who doesn't get it.
also per our months earlier email convo, i'll be staying in tarpon springs post challenge right up the road from you so if there's anything i can do let me know.

Ha risky click of the day at work!
Sounds great! I will happily grab some stuff once there if you are short. Can't promise anything now as I am likely to forget stuff that I already said I would bring.

I am not OK with those 12 pack hot dogs for .79 so I am going to be a bystander on this one.
In reply to patgizz:
There is Publix supermarket very close by if we need anything once people get there. If you want to bring a bottle of that magic mustard, please do. We'll have a mustard comparison.
Tarpon Springs, cool. We can chat at the Challenge. There is a great jerk (as in jerk chicken/goat) cafe in Tarpon.
We won't be arriving until 5ish Thursday. I can send the plates and napkins ahead if need be.
Snacks and refreshments will be available all day during the parking lot build.
We should probably set a time for grilling.
I plan on getting there between noon and 1 on Thursday. What do you say we start grilling around 6 until whenever? If people get hungry before then we can fire up earlier. I'm easy, and cheap, just ask my wife.
I am just so happy that you can be there, I will be there for a brat and a hug mate.

I just bought 12 ramen packages at Aldi for 2.15... how'd I do?
In reply to Robbie:
Winner!
Ok, maybe stretch it to $20.16?
All the great challenge-centered events have me thinking about quitting my job and coming to the challenge.
Sofa-king jealous!!! Stupid work.
Just so we're clear, mustard is bad, kraut is inexcusable.
Ketchup and onion is all you need, unless you're getting fancy with chili or cheese on your dog.

I hope I don't get patio'd for floundering this post......but preeminent authorities, such as the following (and me), disagree with you on that one.

"Don't...
Use ketchup on your hot dog after the age of 18.Mustard, relish, onions, cheese and chili are acceptable."
I'm planning on getting to the host hotel around noon on Thursday. Anyone know when registration packets are available? I need stickers.
Hobie (John) - maybe set a target attendee number and develop a list of things to bring with assignee?
In reply to NordicSaab:
You want me to get all organized and E36 M3? Jeez, this is supposed to be casual.
I'm bringing 60 bratwurst, sauerkraut, 8' table, grilling implements, yellow mustard.
Kurt is bringing grill, 60 buns, pop up tent
Stampie is bringing plates and paper towels
Pat is bringing a gazillion ketchup packs
What did I miss? What else do we need? If people want other stuff grilled, bring it. I'll do dogs, burgers, steaks, chicken breasts, portabella mushrooms...whatever floats your boat. If people want to bring stuff to share they could grab some potato salad, slaw, chips/Doritos, cookies/brownies, whatever. If you plan to bring something specific, add it in and I will edit this post with the additions so we don't have too much duplication.
