I was told my helmet was no longer good enough for the challenge this year. That's ok because we've been through a lot; I think I've been using it since about 2008.
The helmet officially hit "dress up" status about a week ago.
So, what new helmet to buy? What's gonna last another ten years? Is there gonna be an sa2020 that I should wait for? Go!

Snell M/SA 2020 helmets should be released in October 2020, IIRC. SA or M 2005 should be good until the end of 2020, depending on your org.
I have that same helmet, bought it ca 2009. It was goodie and now I still use it for fueling stops. I replaced it with an Arai GP-6, and really appreciate the lightness and fit. Going back to the Pyrotect feels like putting on a 5gal bucket, although the larger eyeport is nice. (I think most of the SA2015+ helmets have smaller eyeports.)
Downside to the Arai is that it doesn't come with all built in tech, like a Stilo. If built-in speakers and drink ports are your thing, then I would consider a Stilo. From what I've heard, the built in speakers are really nice to have, but I still use molded earbuds because I'm a luddite.

I have a 2015 HJC AR10 and have been happy with it. My past two helmets were Bells so this was my first foray into something different. I will probably get another one when this one ages out.
Its lighter and has a smaller eye port than my last helmet but I hardly notice now.
It seems to me that he is quite old since he is already 12 years old and I think that the time has come to change him. I usually change my helmets every 3 weeks, because I really get tired of the same [canoe].
Canoe watch armed and ready.
They should be out by the end of this year as others have said. I went with a Roux last year because I simply just needed a new helmet. Who knew so much mold could grow inside of a helmet while you're in the middle of west Texas.
Anyways I love the Roux I bought, especially for Crapcan racing as it has built in speakers, drink tube, and IMSA radio plug. My only complain about that Roux is my head is too big and the forehead padding is a bit coarse/hard for my liking.
Last time I checked the 2020's will hit the shelves this Fall. I've got a 2010 that's aging out, I'll buy a new 2020 when they're here for the 2021 season.

I almost liked that canoe because it was hilarious.
Well, just pulled the trigger on a G-Force Rift SA2020. Happy that sa2020 came out before I needed it, and therefore I didn't have to buy a 2015.

Good to know they're out. I've always used HJC as they fit my tiny head, I'll have to see if theirs have been released yet.
with everything that the year 2020 has been, are you sure you want a 2020 helmet?

I'm thinking it might be smart to start wearing one 24/7.

Better than a 2021 helmet - that was MADE in 2020!!!
I can always tell when the new Snell helmets are coming. You see BIG sales on the last Snell dated helments!

I'm trying to justify a new 2020 helmet instead of just getting a 2015 and it's a bit difficult for exactly that reason!
I just got a new 2015, as at my usage level I'll likely wear it out in 5 years rather than it lasting the whole 10 year window.

I was seeing pricing (at the bottom end - I mostly just autox and rallyx - and I didn't wear out the one I bought in 07/08) like $150 for SA2015 and $250 for SA2020. I figured better to buy one helmet for $250 than two for $150 each.
