So over the weekend, I found a head that had all of the head work already done on it that I was just about to send my old head off to the machinist to do at a price that was cheaper than what I was about to spend at the machine shop.

1 small problem with it though, there is no spark plug tubes on the head. I initially thought no big deal, I can just buy 4 of them cheap and pound them in. Well, I can't find them anywhere. So it looks like I may have to remove them from my old head.

Any tips from the Hive on the best way to do this without totally destroying them? My first thought is to drop a socket or something down the hole and try to twist them off with a set of grips.

The head is off of a Mitsubishi 4G93.

Never had to do this so charting some new ground for me. Thanks for any advice.

Unless you know the guy who did the machine work and they vouch for this used head, just have yours done by a shop.  The money you spend now will be well worth the aggravation you don't face later.
