Tire advice for a Lando Rover Discovery II

As it turns out, I know absolutely nothing about non-performance-related tires. Or, rather, tires for non-performance cars.

We just picked up an '03 Land Rover Discovery and it needs tires. What's a good, quiet tire for all-season on-road use? We might go and play in the gravel in a construction site or climb a snow drift in a parking lot, but these won't be off-road tires.

Mrs. Lugnut will use these for commuting year-round.

General Grabber AT2's are what I had on my 90 rover and I loved the look and drivability of them. Several friends have them on similar vehicles.  The coopers are popular, but I don't like they way that they look.  

These just look like they'll be loud.

We're using Michelin LTX (I think they're LTX 2s, actually) on my wife's Range Rover. Very road biased, seems to work OK, quiet. She doesn't take it out much when there's snow on the road but they seemed to do OK when I did, at least for all seasons.

Haven't taken it on much more than a dirt road, though.

They're honestly not, but it is an off/on road tire.  Cooper Discovery? 

I'm running Cooper AT3s on my ZJ and they have been good so far - a few thousand miles. Snow reviews are mixed, but that's true for any AT. I don't think they're loud but it's hard to hear over the other noise. Price was good.  My other choice was the General AT2s above, but the Coopers beat them on price and had similar reviews on most sites.  The Coopers don't look as cool but seem to preform just as well.

I had General Grabber AT/2s on my WRX Wagon and they sucked donkey dick in packed snow and ice.  As bad as bald all-seasons.  They were new, too.  Should have spent the extra on the BFG All Terrains.

Life Lesson:  The answer is always BFG All Terrains. 

I just put Falken Wildpeak A/Ts on the Cherokee. They are impressive so far. Quieter and smoother than the BFG A/Ts they replaced. 

Trailer tires, they don't rot at fast from sitting.   Ducks and runs from the arrows.  Or Yoko Geolanders, they ride a little better than the BFGs.

Bridgestone Dueller Revo2. They are quiet on the road, handle well, and have decent off-road chops. We've had them on three straight vehicles and very happy with them, other than they wear a tiny bit faster than expected (but not like a LR is gonna put a lot of miles on ;) )

I will add in my favorite.  Yokohama Geolander A/T G015.  Have had them on my Outback for a year now and love them.  Very nice on the highway and can go anywhere I want to.

I have the same on my 2003 disco. Great tyres that allow it to hang in the twisties, go off roading (no rock climbing or mudding for me) and they are nearly silent on the road. They may not look aggressive, but they get the job done

I have Nitto Terra Grappler G2's on my Land Ro... I mean Land Cruiser.  They are actually pretty quiet and have good "cred," even in the snow/ice.  I have separate snow tires, but reports I've seen show them to be good for it. And, Wally World carries them, so if you have a flat, they will fix it or replace it with the road hazard warranty.

I've put a set of TOYO Celsius CUV's on our Rangie. It gets camping trips to the mountains, a trip in the snow on logging roads to find a Christmas tree. Otherwise it's around town driving to Home Depot and the grocery store. Snow rated tire too. Not a true snow tire, but plenty and a pretty good all season tire otherwise.
