Bought my eagle gt  205 50 16 tires from tire race in Reno in 2014 code on tire is 2 2012. Have them on rimes, drove 4 to 5k miles on them before my Alfa Romeo spider engine decided to stop working

They have been bagged and in my closet  for the the past 4 ish years in there sides in a dark place.my Alfa Romeo  conversion to ecotec  is almost done. But new tires or junk them?no cracks in sidewalls, and when I deflate them and press down no cracks, still supple

Tires are 7 years old now. Sounds like they've been well stored but they will still have lost some of the original characteristics, even if you're not seeing cracks on the sidewall. Don't know how much you'll be driving the car/tires. If you're looking for something to shake down the EcoTec swap on then you're probably fine. For most driving you're probably fine. If you're looking for the best in response, stopping distance, trustworthiness, and MPGs their ship has probably sailed.

My $0.02, based on my knowledge of tires more than experience with them in situations like these.

When I bought my BMW it had 9 year old, barely used, tires on it. No cracks, no weird wear. They were perfectly fine commuting. The second I leaned on them though I found there was very little traction to be had.

Use them for your test driving then burn them off!

I'd stick them on a DD without second thought and just monitor them closely.
