I'm looking for some tires.
Rims are 15x8 and 15x10. Got a set of BFGs, and they're too big (diamter) and heavy for the engine, so I'm looking to replace them with something else. Summer road use (including rain) and occasional autocrossing.
I'm looking for something like a 255/ to 275/40/R15 for the 10's, and a 205/ to 225/40/R15 for the 8's. Would prefer matching tread, but not a must.
Maybe my google-fu is broken, but I haven't found much. Anybody want to give me a hand?
The only things wider than a 225 that i know of in a 15" tire are R-comps. Save for those ridiculous made-once-every-decade Countach tires.
225/45/15 are ideal for the 8" wide rims, and yeah for anything wider than that it's just R-comps and specialty supercar tires.
So look at moving rear diameter up or rear width down to 8".

^Make sure you're sitting down when you read the price on that one
I could throw Hoosiers on the wheels I have. Tire Rack has them, and would send me a set for around $1100.
I'd have a set of tires I'd need rid of, and a set of wheels with very-limited-life racing-only tires.
I could buy another pair of 8" wheels and get myself a set of 4 Hankook Ventus's for a total of $650. I'd have a pair of new 15x10 wheels and a set of tires that I'd need rid of, and a set of wheels/tires I could run anytime it isn't snowing.
I could run the setup I've got, and accept that it lowers the effective gearing a little and drastically increases the rotating mass.
I could just sell the whole setup and forget it.
In reply to mtn:
hahaha, I don't know how those sidewalls would hold up to the stretch required to get those on a 10" wheel...
And no kidding on the pricetag. Holy Berk.

Guess we won't see those on a $2013 challenge car.
