I need some opinions on tires.

I run a 4 cylinder fwd car at the local oval track, and they changed their tire rules this year to try and get rid of the DOT racing tires that have been dominating the past few years. I'm trying to find the best tires to fit the rules, but I'm not having very good luck. Hopefully you guys can give me some thoughts and opinions.

Here are the rules: "Tires must have a utqg treadwear higher than 250." "Tires must be 60 series profile or numerically higher." "Maximum 225mm wide tires." "No: cheater slicks, bias ply tires, or recaps." "Wheels must be in sizes 13, 14, or 15. No mixing wheel sizes."

I'm going to need a tire in one of the following sizes in order to keep the car in the correct rpm range: 225/60R15 215/60R15 205/60R15 205/65R15

Here's what I have found so far:

Accelera Alpha in 225/60R15 size. 300 utqg treadwear, v speed rating, an "a" temperature rating. (I'm thinking this might be the best. But I've never heard of Accelera tires before. They do have a v speed rating, so I'm guessing they're made well, but I'm not certain. They have what I think looks like a performance tread pattern. And with the 300 treadwear, I'm guessing they're pretty soft. And they do have a good price, at $61 a piece.)

Gt Radial Champiro BAX 2 in 225/60R15. 380 treadwear, v speed rating, "a" temperature rating.(I've heard of Gt Radial. Not sure on quality or grip. Also a bit more expensive than the Alpha, at $85 a piece.)

Aurora H107 in 215/60R15. 340 treadwear, h speed rating, "a" temerature rating. (I hadn't heard of these tires before, but, after doing a little research, I found they are made by Hankook, and Hankook makes good tires, so I'm guessing these are good. Agressive tread design. A bit expensive, though. $81 a piece.)

Runway Enduro 816 in 215/60R15 size. 380 treadwear, h speed rating, "a" temperature rating. (I've heard of Runway tires before. They seem to hold up, but were never fast with the harder compounds. But this one seems to have a lower treadwear, so maybe it might be softer? More of a standard tread pattern. Inexpensive, at $58 a piece.)

Does anybody know if any of those would be good tires? Anybody have any other tires that would work better than the ones I already listed?

Thanks

I have had luck with Bridgestone potenza re960as on by '05 Malibu. 205-65-15, 400 AA A tread wear and H speed rating. Nice strong sidewalls, great wet grip, not bad running in the cold, do chunk a bit if pressing it on a hot track when it's 90 degrees plus. One set lasted 10 track days between vir and njmp. On special they can sell for $350 a set.

195/60-15 Goodyear Eagle RSA. UTQG 260. In stock on tire rack for $65 ea.

I have never been a huge fan of the RSA, but it looks like it almost fits what you're looking for.

Fr3AkAzOiD, I'll look into those. Chunking shouldn't be an issue for me, as I will be shaving the tread down to 4/32", and that normally eliminates chunking, unless of course the tires are bad quality.

gofastbobby, I can't run 195/60R15, as the total gearing will be too short. I'd be bouncing of the rev limiter at the end of the straightaways if I ran that size. (which is a shame, as there are a few good tires in that size.) 205/60R15 the the smallest tire (diameter wise) that I can run and not hit the rev limiter.

Anybody else have any other suggestions? The more, the better!
