I have 2 Hankook Ventus C71 autocross tires with good tread left over from last year and 2 that are worn out, one of which is corded. Since the season is only a couple weeks away, figured I'd better get moving on getting things together. Yesterday I ordered 2 tires to replace the bad tires from DTD. Today they called and told me the ones they have in stock are date coded more than 4 years ago and didn't want to send them. The guy on the phone told me he called Hankook about when the next delivery is and told me he was told these are discontinued. I haven't heard anything about that. Is this true? Or is it they are coming out with a replacement soon so stopped this model?
He gave me a deal on 4 Nitto NT01 though. Gave them to me for the same price as the 'kooks. The Nitto's are more expensive. Basically 4 for the price of 3. I was using the 'kooks because I got them cheap. Came mounted on BMW (BBS) Basketweaves. Swapped the tires to Kosei rims for my Miata and used the basketweaves on my Opel GT. But in using the 'kooks I had to haul them to the autocross site and change tires. Looks like now I can just leave the Nitto's on and drive to autocrosses. Site is just across town. Have been wanting to be able to do that for a while but couldn't turn down the 'kooks when I got them a little more than a year ago. Basically got them for free since I really wanted the basketweaves for the Opel GT.
