Currently, my ECS's are almost bald on the inside edge:

..and the other pair (Maxxis) look like this, not ideal but they'll go a little longer ( on the back):

Simple, buy 4 new tyres Paul.  But... I'm undecided on the Mazda's future (still) - ok, put it up for sale and take it steady and let yourself be negotiated down on tyres.  But...I have a 10 hr each way drive through the back of Peruvian beyond within the next 2 weeks.

My best 4 options in this size are Yoko V701, Hankook V12 Evo2 K120 (who dreams up these names?!), Toyo TR1, Ovation VI388.  The first 3 are all a similar price, the Chinese tyres waaay cheaper.  All 4 get sufficiently mixed reviews to confuse things.  If the Mazda was staying, I'd probably get 2 Yoks for the front, and 2 Ovations for the back (I know I know, but I'm cheap and I've always put cheap rubber on the back).  For comparison, I put the Maxxis on the front for a few weeks, and my god they're terrible compared to the ECS'.

Does anyone have first hand experience of any of these 4 (I imagine not the Ovation)?  Ideally in a mid size FWD platform?!

No first-hand experience but I've heard good things about the Fleva V701s, I think a few people on here are running them. Hankook V12s are good for a tire of that type too, I don't think you or a buyer would be disappointed with either of those.
