So, I've found a set of 16x6 Sentra wheels that will fit my Accord fairly well, and be legal for stock/street or RTF. Now, I've come down to the size I'd like to run: 205/50/16. 205/55/16 has a lot more selection, but it's nearly an inch taller, too tall IMO. Size on the car now is 185/65/15, the other factory size was 195/60/15.

Car is my DD, I drive 400 miles a week, down crappy SE MI/NW OH roads. They suck. I do about 1 autocross every month or so. Car has a 22mm rear bar on it right now, shocks coming in later once I figure out what I want. I'm not looking to win any classes, but I do appreciate the added grip from good tires. The steelies+all seasons currently on the car will be shelved until the white stuff starts falling. It rains a LOT here, in a short amount of time, and it will rain all day for several days at times.

Buddy of mine will mount/balance the tires for free.

Nitto Neogens from Discount Tire Direct are $380. BFG G-force Sport Comp 2's from Tirerack are $406. Bridgey RE760's crossed my thought, but Comp2's are larger, stickier, and cheaper. S-drives are $9 more per through TR, but have a $60 rebate card.

Any other options? I like cheap and sticky. As long as they last until the snow hits, I'll be happy. I'd like to stay under or as near $400 as possible. No china tires.

Doubt they'd last as long as I'd need them too. They MIGHT make it to September. Don't look too rain friendly either. It's a bit out an outlier tire, too, so I'm going to not include it.

the last generation of star specs are closing out in 205/50/16 for $75 a pop at tire rack.

Extreme Contact DW for $336 + SH on TR. Will crush all in the rain, and better than everything you listed in the dry.

No longer listed. Same problem as the 595RSR in terms of wear.

It's on closeout, meaning: no more. manufacture date is 4 years old, too. Don't trust that. I'm pretty intrigued by them, though, I've heard they're the go-to rain tire in ST classes.

It says "in stock". No more in the future, but who gives a E36 M3 right now?

They are also an incredibly good dry tire. Not quite top tier, but a hair slower.

They're stored in TR's warehouse. I'd have no reservations about buying the Continentals. They're showing as in stock, they're just getting rid of that stock.

Pretty much any tire will last you to winter. The 595 RSRs would make it easily. So would the Star Specs, the RS3s, etc...

At 400 miles a week, you could drive into mid-december before you'd hit 10k miles.

I ran starspecs on the BMW as a DD. I think I did about 15,000 on them before needing to buy new ones

Let me rephrase... 400 miles a week just for work. In reality, I drive a bit more than that. I bought this car in... uhhh.... early April? and have put 8000 miles on it already.

Hm. I'll have to find a someone on a set and try them out. I've heard the sidewalls are nice and cushy for commuting, too.

I have close to 12k miles on the Z1 star specs on my '91 sho......they're still doing well. nearly 30k on the star specs on my old redline.....they were grooved slicks at the end though.

Seriously just buy the conti's.

I ahave to admit.. a lowered BMW with the old school semi-trailing arm rear suspension is -very- hard on tyres. When I took the Ti off of the road, the fronts were fine, but the rears looked good at a casual inspection, but the inner edges were close to being corded

I concur with this, the rs2's on mine are great on the outside, bald on the inside......many burnouts were done with them though.

For size, the 205/50x16 will just about equal the stock diameter.

With the closeout price, I'll vote for the Extreme Contact as well.

Just as a data point though, I've been very happy with the S.Drives on both the MR2 and Integra for DD and autox duty. They're pretty much exactly the compromise I'm looking for between grip, life, road manners, and price. The sidewalls are a bit soft, but that makes them more forgiving as well. The compound holds up to autocross just fine, but isn't going to be as fast as the top-level ST tires. They'll last longer though and absolutely plow through water. If the price wasn't so good on the Extreme Contacts, I'd be suggesting them due to your mileage requirements. As it stands though, the Conti's are cheaper and faster.

I also vote Continental. Made my brother get a set for his RX-8. He hasn't mounted them yet...
