Guys,
My Civic is in need of its next set of tires....(At 265k miles I don't remember exactly how many sets I have installed.)
So I shopped Discount Tire and Big O here in Boulder. Both were selling a set installed for about $320. Tire Rack was about $80 higher after shipping and install. Costco was similar to Tire Rack.
Understanding that I haven't bought street tires for anything in about 3 years......$320 seems steep.
Anybody got any tips for buying All season 185/65-14's on the cheep?
TIA,
Rog
$60 bucks a tire plus $60 mount/balance plus $20 tax/fees =$320.
You might do incrementally better, but for diminishing returns.
Thats a good price, even buying used pick and pull tires and getting them mounted and balanced here would be $300.
It seems steep for me, but I can get the new tires in that same size for $275 a set, mounted, balanced, etc, etc.( No NH sales tax) Even a set of Azenis 195/60r14's would run me about the same amount.
I've bought more tires off CL in the past 2 years than I have at the local tire shop. There are deals out there, just gotta look.Unless you wanna spend the dough on some name brand stuff.

Wasn't a 185/60-14 the OE tire size?
That may be part of the problem as there are lots more choices in that size over the 185/65-14 mentioned.
So.....
Has anyone bought tires from Pepboys?
With their "buy 3 get one free.." promotion I can get 4 tires for about $270. The only PITA is that the $ for the 4th tire is rebated.
Are these guys reputable?
TIA,
Rog
