I was planning to do a valve adjustment today, as it is the only day that my schedule will allow. The car has not been started for two days. I pushed it into the garage this morning, but the car has been outside and the current temperature is 26 degrees.

I understand that adjusting the valves with any heat in the engine is a big no-no, but is there an issue with low temperatures? I know that laying on the garage floor will be unpleasant and it will take forever for all the oil to drain, but other than that, can I get an accurate adjustment?

I think the difference between 26 and 70 is fairly minor, considering they run at around 200 degrees. The other option would be to run the engine for a few minutes and then let it cool.

There are usually 2 settings, hot and cold. Either way, at your temp, the cold setting is fine.
