Even with the stated wire damage, isn't this a steal? http://sfbay.craigslist.org/eby/cto/1836171063.html

I'd go take a look before putting any money out, if you can. Depending how bad the mouse damage (and smell...) are, yup, it sure could be a 'deal of a century' sort of thing. Judging from the chewed up hood insulation, there may still be an active mouse home there.
Uh, go buy that car right now, even if you can't use it, ebay it, make profit, if not, keep and turn into OMFGBADDDDDDDAAZZZZZZCAR!!
Extremely good deal! I have seen the shell alone go for more than that, plus it looks unmolested (minus the rodent damage)
Great price. Offer him $2000 cash money dollars to get into Challenge territory, sell $1000 (or more) off of the car, which would be stupid easy, and you've got yourself a great chassis.
Good deal. Rolling chassis can fetch $6k. Engine looks fire-damaged, not rodent damaged. Common problem with 3rd gen is the fuel pulsation dampener (under the upper intake manifold) leaking fuel and starting a fire. LSx swap or $2k for a complete rebuilt 13b long block w/harness and you're in business!
I can't afford it... I just graduated and I am going to start school again this upcoming fall. just wanted to let others in the bay area know about this great deal
Wow. I can only say that my wife is glad (even if she doesn't know it) that that thing is on the other side of the country.
I'd call into work and buy that in the morning if it was closer. My FC would be on Craigslist shortly thereafter.
Not to threadjack or anything (I mean, anyway, what could I add to what's been said?) but I love the way the Mk V in the first picture in the ad seems to stretch all the way to the driver's window in the Escort. Man, there's nothing holds the road like a Big Car....
This is what happens when one doesn't read the entire post: I read 'pittsburgh" . Thinking PA. Re-read the post early this morning, and scrolled down just a little bit, and it's SF bay area. I feel stupid. Shipping is about $1500; so there is still money to be made. But, a fool and his money are easily parted, and if I can't physically be there to pick it up/make the final payment. No deal. That and I have had issues with Mazdas and rusting suspensions. I lived in LA and did business in SF, and with that humidity. No. I'll build the 3/4 race motor for the Spifire with the money instead. Might be a great opportunity for someone, but not me.
that strikes me as a decent deal. definitely on my list with an LS variant someday. i just hate how much those cars typically go for, even broken

Yes please this. I have already been approved for the money to have it shipped out just in case they actually return my call.
My intention (pending if it's sold or not) is to sell the drivetrain to recover money, then add LS motor until awesome is acheived.
