So I am pretty sure the car I most want to investigate right now is a 2011-2012 E-350 Bluetec with the distronic package (driver assist)
I keep searching autotrader and the preowned inventory of local dealers and carmax but they seem to be somewhat rare. Am I missing some major place to look? I might go farther afield to actually buy one for the right deal but for test driving/convincing the wife I need to find something local.
Also regarding fly and drive from dealers any advice?
Cars.com is decent. Here is all of the E series diesels that they list nationwide:

Something that specific takes time and lots of combing. I've done plenty of fly and drives, even a rail and drive. I don't have any advice that'd be specific to dealerships except to avoid them. But again, with such a specific target, you take what you can get I suppose.
I work for a dealer group and I know they have picked up people from the train station from out of town to pick up vehicles. YMMV

there is a relatively local private party car that would fit the bill and is nicely optioned but his price is almost 4k higher than some of the others. It looks like back east/in the south the prices are much lower than California.
sorry, the hunt for the needle is what I love so no tips other than the brute force method. On your comment about reducing from 92 to 5, don't assume that someone will list the options correctly. Heck, I've found that I can't even search by manual trans on autotrader because every once in a while you get a car mis-listed. Including the dang Z3 that I drove two hours to see, looked in the side window and saw that it was auto and not manual, didn't even open the door, turned around and drove home. The pics showed the clean seat bolsters, and I never asked to confirm that the trans was a manual like the ad said......
At least the distronic is visible from the grill of the car (little black boxes for the radar)
