As long as it stays out of the way of the pinion yoke.
One of my ideas for dollying/flat towing was to yank the driveshaft and install a plug made out of a disused pinion yoke, with a bungee through the cap holes to hold it in place and a spacer inside to keep it from burying in the trans and smooshing the seal.
Half the reason I wanted to go to a floater was so I could just pull the axles.
Of course none of that ever came to fruition, I decided/realized that for all the PITA, it was easier to just drive the car.
