Lat August I bought a 2007 Dakota Quad with the H.O. V8, towing package etc. for $27,000 after rebates, incentives and discounts. I tow my Neon and a boat, have 14,000 miles on the truck and have had zero repairs needed. Only I have had to do is scheduled maintenence.
Call me when you get to 330,000 with no repairs like my Cummins :)
About 6 years ago I bought a 1965 F100 for $2700. It is presently worth about $5000. Only repairs I've done are replace some leaky gaskets, one radiator, a sloppy timing chain and added disc brakes. It looks cool, chicks dig it and it gets 15 mpg when it's not towing anything.
Only made one payment, too.
Congratulations! I have the first gen Dakota V8 and as I've said elsewhere in the previous threads it's got the perfect size so it's easier to live with and yet big enough to tow comfortably - the V8 with the low end torque is icing on the cake.
The two main issues that plagued the 2nd gen Dakotas and Durangos were the engine sludge issues and the front ball joints were known for failing catastrophically based on what I found on the Internet when I was doing the research but I hope they fixed those issues in the later ones and the third gen Dakotas and Durangos. Give us a longer term update when you get to 30k and 60k.
