I remember reading on here and maybe also in an old magazine ad about bolt on towing hubs. Does anybody know if such a thing is still produced? I plan to dolly tow my racecar. Not needing to worry about disconnecting a driveshaft to tow would be great, and I would already be swapping off race rubber so it's not terribly much extra work.

NMW (same company that made bolt on ladder bar kits and such) made them, they were called flat towing / freewheel hubs. Haven't seen them being made new in years, but were common for flat towed race cars before tow dollies and affordable open trailers were so prevalent.  They do pop up from time to time for sale, used, obviously, but are rebuildable.

A quick search came up with these on FB market place:

Towing hub

I looked at the old ones a bit and the issue is that my car is 5x112.

Now that I have different search terms I found these hubs which I think are what I'm looking for but they claim to be only for moving cars around the shop unpowered. Hmmm...

Unless the car is all wheel drive I'd just put the car on the dolly with the non-drive wheels on the ground.  Assuming RWD you'll need to tie the steering wheel straight.

That's acceptable for longer tows? Stable enough? I could just grab some cheap wheels and tires to toss on the front for towing
