Hey,
Recently picked up this MR2 for sub Challange pricing, already many mods done to it.
Can anyone tell by looking at the top of the shocks what brand, and maybe even model of shocks/struts these are?

And the stereo has new speakers but is still pretty weak sound wise, we found this thing that looks like an amp built into a speaker but I can't figure out where it goes, any ideas?

I'll talk more about the car when I am at a real keyboard and not pecking at my iPad.
Edit: I fixed the pics, sorry.

looks to be Tokico Illuminas....

Shocks are Tokicos. Could be either inserts or complete struts (but are probably inserts—Tokico produced way more inserts than complete assemblies for the AW11).
Speaker is the stock factory subwoofer. It goes under one of the seats (I forget which one. I think driver. There'll be a plug for it).
Yes, subwoofer, driver's side.
What year?
The early years had no accommodation for rear speakers but if you get the interior c-pillar trim from the later years you can add speakers to the rear corners.

hey, thanks everyone.
Details:
1989 Toyota MR2, 5 speed, 4A-GE motor.
It has the rear C pilar speakers.
Strut (inserts) and lowering springs. I will need to re-aim the headlights. The car came with AC but it has all been removed. The front Radiator fan has been upgraded to a bigger one, and it runs all the time when the car is on.
It has the "Spectre" air filter, prolly from autozone....
The MR2 has t-tops and we just drove it in the rain with only the slightest drip after about 30 min in the rain.
The catalytic converter has been removed and the exhaust goes from the header to a flex pipe to a small muffler that points straight out the back where the rear valance has been bent up and out of the way to make room for the muffler.
It red lines at 7200 RPM, It is loud.

We only refer to it as "the go-kart"
Now needs a cheap 20v swap.

Grant Steering wheel and Momo Shift nob.
The radiator fan is completely useless. I never had mine come on once without the AC, despite driving a 20v motor in Houston, and yes, everything worked, it just never needed to come on.

When I picked it up the fan was actually unplugged.

Does the Grant have the doubled adapter?
If it is a single adapter, then the wheel is too close to the turn signal and wiper stalks.

I discovered that. So, yes, single adaptor.
runs off to find a double adaptor
It occurs to me that the previous owner was not very thorough when making modifications.....
I had lots of problems with sticky fan relays keeping that front fan on. If the relay sticks shut it may also run when the car is off, too. Give the relay a good thump and see if it helps. Unlike Doc, my '85s always needed the fans (front and engine bay) to be in proper working condition to cool the motor correctly. Maybe it was an 85 thing, or maybe I was doing something wrong.
The doubled adapter will be a little too close to the driver but it is much better than the single versiom.

Mine has never come on either.
