Yeah yeah, everybody has an R3 rally car - take an A-class car and put together a competition kit and go sell it.

"Toyota has confirmed its new R3 rally car based on the GT-86 coupe will make its first appearance during the ninth round of the 2014 World Rally Championship in Germany.
A return to Toyota's rallying roots – and a predicted prelude to a probable full-factory return to the WRC class in 2017 -, the TMG-prepared GT86 is a rear-wheel drive car that has taken inspiration from the iconic Celica Twin Cam Turbo (TA64), which enjoyed success in the 1980s.
After almost a year of development, TMG will put the CS-R3 through its paces as a zero car on Rallye Deutschland, which takes place around Trier on 21-24 August and will thus not be officially competing. "
Coooooooooooooooool
So are they running a RWD rally car, or will it be electric front drive? Or mechanically alien to the regular Toyobaru?
And how long before the fanbois tack fake scoops to their roof?
I thought that this had been announced late last year? Sad that Toyota and not Subaru decided to take the Frisbee rallying (I know Toyota has a rich rally history as well and Prodrive is busy with the Mini efforts and couldn't be bothering to do an R3 car for Subaru). Also there is a Frisbee being campaigned in North America on the west coast that was prepped in part as a deal with Nameless Performance, if anyone wants to see one in action on stage in person.
There are already a few campaigning in Japan (granted not Factory teams, I don't think). Hell, a company already sells full underbody protection packages for the FT86 twins (I forget what company)

Ayup. Just like the good ol' days.
I'm still waiting for the GRMN (Gazoo Racing) hot hatch prototype to make production
