I'm trying to figure out if the plow setup from my 2005 Tacoma can be transferred to a 4Runner with the hi/lo transfer case. The V8 is out, due to its full time AWD.
Sure, it's not "Officially Approved" for "Safety Reasons", but I'd like to know if it can be done, you know, hypothetically...

The V8s have full time, but they still have a hi-low transfer case, it just doesn't allow for 2wd.

And, if you happen to find a cheap truck in need of repair, the T-case out of the FJC bolts up. You can convert it to dual stick, and get a little creative with the interior, but it works.

Not the same frame. 4runner is based on the prado - closer relation to land cruiser or fj cruiser. Tacoma has its own chassis (not a hilux). Not that it is a deal-breaker whether your plow set up would transfer.

No different frames. But they are very similar. All the front suspension is the same between the taco and 4r (and fj and gx470 and parado 120 series) if that helps with bolt placement etc.
