The best way to keep old cars on the road? When the manufacturer itself offers reproduction parts to help accomplish that goal.
Toyota Gazoo Racing announced today that it has expanded the GR Heritage Parts Program–which already reproduces a number of spare parts for the A70 and A80 Supra, 40 Series Land Cruiser and 2000GT–to include the AE86 Corolla.
Love to see more manufacturers doing this and offering a wider range of parts.
Will they be offering engines? Because these parts are useless unless you A) find a 4age, B) find a 4age block and head that is not scrap metal, C) find an AE86 chassis that doesn't look like it bathed in salt water.
I'm now wondering how many parts they'll offer from the bin that are shared with the mk1 mr2...
edit - Nevermind. They're only selling like 3 parts (the ones pictured). One of which we easily get from most parts stores. Le sigh.
The way I see it, the Heritage Parts program looks to be an ever-evolving program that's going to rely heavily on what the market demands–meaning if you know someone who has an AE86, make them go and fill out this form and demand for crate engines.

Yep, people with 4AGE-powered cars are just hoarding the last major 4AGE parts. From what I could find, the crank I put in mine a few years ago was the only one in good condition available in the western hemisphere at the time.
Had a look at the form but AE92 owners aren't eligible
