I have used the torque pro for years and have been very happy with the ability to monitor battery cell and overall battery condition data.  But an 07 camry hybrid nearby looks interesting and I would like to check it out.  Problem is the prius PIDs do not seem to work on it.  So I spent an hour figuring out how to get to the appropriate screen and download the "Advanced EX for toyota" app but it is not compatible with my 3 year old phone.

What are the hybrid owners doing now for data inspection?  Not interested in techstream but maybe this is the only game now.

Does the  Dr Prius App help?

I'll admit that I'm not sure.

Any help from a PriusChat search.  That site does have a section on Carmy and or other Hybrids.  Disclaimer: I know Prius Chat can return mixed results.

I get a lot of help via YouTube.  How about a search there for something like "Camry Hybrid battery monitoring"

Thanks John, you are the man on hybrid yotas.  The app is an easy button, plug it in  and look at cell voltage.  If there is variance the price of the car goes down.  By now letting it sit with lots of drain on the battery for a few minutes then starting the gas motor to see the charging time is pretty good.  I downloaded the hybrid assistant app, will plug it into the prius today and see what it does.

Honestly though the ABS system condition is more important than the hybrid battery.  It is more expensive and totally out of my comfort zone.  I have a brake fluid moisture tester and the car is original owner so maybe there are service records at the dealer.

Re: service records at dealer

You can pull those service records online for free if you have the VIN.

Toyota.com/owners

Once there create an account and insert the vin.  One thing it will return is ALL dealer service records with downloadable brief detail.

No, there is no need to provide proof of car ownership so you can even do this car you are shopping.

If you don't have vin but do have license plate?

My hack...Edumnds.com will give you a trade in value with only plate number.  Once you go through that exercise, Edmunds will ask you if you want to know any open recalls.  When you say yes to that, Edmunds will display the VIN.

You'll need to log in to post.
