$3000 for 300 horsepower.  A tall ask in a land of 5.3 v8s

There's a local second gen supra that has one of these swapped into it that I see at car shows every summer. It's a fascinating swap.

They fit in a MK4 Supra with turbos as I'm sure everyone here is aware.

They also fit (with turbos) in 40 series Landcruisers

If I was running a youtube channel I'd grab that up in a second to figure out how to get it in an MR2, Elise, or 3rd gen Supra.

Do it for the coolness of having a V12.  Like the DB7 V12 into the Mustang.  Logic goes out the window for the sound and sight of 12 cylinders.

You don't do this to be practical you do it because you can.  Doing things in the car world is not about being practical or logical it is about doing stuff that makes you smile.  It is about ripping through gears with a V12 screaming up to 8K through open pipes in a tunnel.  You do a V12 because you subscribe to Anthony Bourdain's approach to life.

Step outside your LS/Vortec comfort zone and live a little.

I wonder how much that weighs compared to a Jag...

Nice looking engines with the stacks in copper!  Changing the belt(s) on the front of it would be an interesting job....

And best sounding.

That V12 was from a Toyota Century.  That wasn't a car you drove, that was a car someone drove you in.  The engine characteristics reflect that.

I've thought about one for the Tunatruck. I would weld up a giant ridiculous tunnel ram or cross ram. How much do they weigh? I imagine it would sound nice.

Someone swapped one into a 190e like 15 years ago. Then blew the engine lol.

On a related note, if one was to desire a 12 cylinder engine for a swap, what would one choose, if cost, performance, sound and availability were all considered?

Back when I was daydreaming Challenges, you could get a BMW 850 for challenge money.  Which is a V12.  I doubt they are that common anymore.

I have a variant of that engine in my Vanquish. It's pretty intoxicating ... and has spoiled me for other engines 😂
