Since I have been thinking about track rats lately, I am looking for some inspiration. Does anyone have some good links to track rat build/racing threads? It doesn't have to be a full-blown caged racer, just something cool and cheap that is used on track. Major part swappage or fabrication also not required (nor preferred, actually).
What are you guys following for inspiration?

You can check out my XR4, though the picture link to my friend's website (more photos) with all the galleries will show you without words what we did, there's 400-500 pictures I think last count spread over the last 4-5 years: http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/437/
http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/forum/grm/epic-build-threads/25703/page1/
Now you will have no time to actually work on your cars.

For VW content I really enjoyed this Corrado track rat build:
Corrado track rat on Vortex
It isn't built for any specific class or series, more of a build for the joy of building it.

Sweet tap-dancing jeezus...a VR6 at full song makes my pants tight. I HART YOUTUBE...Stellar thread!
Just buy a rear wheel drive car, put it on 4 jack stands and take it completely apart. Weld in a roll cage, put in a seat and harnesses, replace every bushing in the suspension. Add brake lines and good pads, and do the wheel bearings while you're these. Buy some bargain, decent shocks/struts like Koni yellows. Sway bar (s) too. Get a bunch of wheels, and have a set w/ R comps like RA1s or NT01s, and a set w/ Z1 Star Specs for rain and transit miles. Speaking of which, trailer if you can. It's a lot easier and more comfortable, and when your motor don't go anymore it's a lot easier to get 250 miles back to DC from VIR. Beef up the cooling and oiling systems too. Have lots of spares and tools. Get lots of track time. Add power last.
For BMWs at the top of the track and autocross forum at bimmerforums there's a build thread subforum that's pretty good. Hint - when confronted by a 94 page thread - skip to the end and make sure it's not 94 pages of hi-res pics of all the deliveries of new parts and welding exercises...

Nice, that is exactly what I am talking about. Thanks.
Got any other good ones in that same vein?
My first track car's build thread read's like this.
Buy 220k mile Miata.
Install Hard Dog rollbar.
Go race.
Not an epic build but that car was a blast...
