Sometimes strange things happen.
I can trade my running but nose-punched '94 for a non-running 2000 Special Edition Miata as a straight up swap. No money will change hands at all, we'll just pass the titles to each other.
The '94:
Cost me $1000
"C" package 5 speed with LSD
Has a rollbar of unknown quality
Plastic window in top is dead, dead, dead.
Had damage to all body panels in front of the windshield. The radiator support and the driver's side frame right in the front are bent pretty bad.
the 2000
Needs paint (it is coming off in long strips, probably a bad respray already, though there were no signs of it in the wheel wells, etc.
Good top with glass window
Doesn't run (unknown reason)
No roll bar
No seats, actually, as the guy already sold them.
Has all of the special bits: wood steering wheel, shift knob, floor mats, etc.
is a 6 speed.
To me this is a no brainer- get the Special Edition, get it running and decide to keep it or (most likely) sell it for huge profit and start over. It will not make a great rallycross car at all- it has the sills and front dam, but it could be a great looking driver.
