Sometimes strange things happen.

I can trade my running but nose-punched '94 for a non-running 2000 Special Edition Miata as a straight up swap. No money will change hands at all, we'll just pass the titles to each other.

The '94:

Cost me $1000

"C" package 5 speed with LSD

Has a rollbar of unknown quality

Plastic window in top is dead, dead, dead.

Had damage to all body panels in front of the windshield. The radiator support and the driver's side frame right in the front are bent pretty bad.

the 2000

Needs paint (it is coming off in long strips, probably a bad respray already, though there were no signs of it in the wheel wells, etc.

Good top with glass window

Doesn't run (unknown reason)

No roll bar

No seats, actually, as the guy already sold them.

Has all of the special bits: wood steering wheel, shift knob, floor mats, etc.

is a 6 speed.

To me this is a no brainer- get the Special Edition, get it running and decide to keep it or (most likely) sell it for huge profit and start over. It will not make a great rallycross car at all- it has the sills and front dam, but it could be a great looking driver.

Are you asking for permission, or just bragging?

You better do it quickly before this guy smartens up.

I am not a fan of the six speed. Remind me what colour that year special editions were?

In reply to ZOO:

Merlot.

Sounds like a solid deal. Don't the six speeds alone sell for over $500?

Kind of bragging, kind of trolling for any "gotcha" I may have missed.

I see no possible flaws with this plan other than I have to spend time figuring out why the 2000 isn't running.

Who cares if it is runnning when you are just going to swap in a 13b anyway?

13B swap has to be in an OBDI car.

2000 would have to get a RENESIS.

Oh, the humanity!

Wish I could do something similar, though ideally I think I'd prefer a truck right now.

Do the trade. Get an inexpensive set of race seats, or I'm sure you could find some stockers for not very much. The hive has enough knowledge to help you diagnose the non running issue.

The trade is going to happen, though I don't know how I can run this in a rallycross.

I may have to lift my RX-8 a 1/2".

You'll need to log in to post.
