Due to some hip pain issues that the RF seating position wasn't helping, I traded it on a 20 Veloster N Performance Pack.
I didn't go to look at the N, I went to look at a 14 Avalon and they just had the N's parked right there by the door, I couldn't say no to a test drive...
The RF was a good car but the seating position just wasn't working anymore. I put 16k miles on it in 8 months and it was getting to be a bit annoying. The Veloster has a much better seating position and is much quieter inside which is very helpful since my commute is 80 miles round trip. I now actually have some room to move around. The Veloster has adjustable lumbar support which the RF didn't have as well. The Veloster also sounds much better than the RF both in the exhaust department and in the radio department. It is also nice having Android Auto back.
I still have 400 miles till the break-in period is up but that should be done by the end of the week.

Can't wait to hear what it's like once you are all cleared to hoon!

N mode sounds amazing and the pops and crackles are fun. You do need a relatively good road though since that suspension is FIRM in N mode.
Some oddities with it, that I have noticed. 3 door configuration is weird, the drivers door is massive. It runs different tire pressures front and rear factory, 38psi front and 35psi rear.
Rear visibility is bad, but that is a common thing these days, forward and side visibility are very good.
Any wait to hear your impressions once you can open it up! Congrats on the purchase!
oh 0-60 are spread out every 10mph but 60-180 are every 20 mph which is kindof annoying
Kudos. Love the car. I sat in one at Road America and my head was in the sunroof.

Also that color looks great!

Non sunroof car so tons of headroom
Cool!
Serious question: are they all blue, or is it just that the color has immediately become iconic and it’s all anyone wants? I like it, it’s just that I don’t think I’ve ever seen a different color for the N.
In reply to Keith Tanner :
They come in 4 colors. Red, Black, White and the Blue. The dealer had a Red, White and the Blue one I bought. The red one is boring cause the red accents just disappear, the white ones are fine but Blue is the better color and I wont buy a black car again.
The Blue is the best color though.

I'm not a fan of the color in general but I love it on this car!
I fell in love with this Datsun years ago in Long Beach and grew to appreciate the color.
Thanks for the pictures of the alternate colors. I understand why they’re all blue :)

That may be the first red car to draw less attention than its blue companion though.
I like the blue because it's their racing color.

Congrats on your purchase!
I saw my first Veloster N commuting home last Friday, in red with RallyArmor mud flaps. I was impressed with the cars looks, I'd consider one as a fun second car or as a DD if the fuel economy was better.
I really am rubbing off on people. Yay!
also I’ll take mine in white.

I don't see an option to add a sunroof to the N cars? Also, this thread title is on the list of "Things I didn't expect to read today."
But I'm curious to hear your feedback! An ND2 and this are on the list of cars that intrigue me for next year.

It was from this comment. My Nd1 was fine, but I drive 25k a year and the nd just isnt the car for that.
oooh, I like the white. I hate the accents

Can you set engine mode and suspension mode separately? I heard that on the N the throttle mapping is just as terrible as the rest of Hyundai products and the car is practically un-driveable unless you set it to the sportiest setting.

Yes there is N Custom where you can set steering feel, suspension, rev matching and traction control different from regular N mode.
I think the throttle mapping in regular is fine. It seems decent to me.
Congrats! I had one as a press loan earlier this year (in blue, the best color) and absolutely adored it. Did not expect to come away quite so impressed but here we are, months later, and I'm still trying to convince people to go drive/buy them. The chassis dynamics are very good and all the extras you get with the performance package are very worth it IMO.
I found it a bit noisy inside at highway speed (given it's a quasi-econo-car, it was expected) and have a Miata RF coming in a few weeks. So, very curious to see how they compare as you said the Miata is louder.
Enjoy the car, it's so fun and the exhaust blapblapblap in N mode never gets old.

Interesting. I have an R spec and its terrible in regular mode. Everyone I've talked to elsewhere with the N has the same thoughts. I see lots of comments like this:
The first time I put it up on ramps to change the oil I smoked the clutch like I never drove a manual trans in my life
Or
I cannot stand to drive the car with the throttle response set to anything less than Sport+, the feel is to vague in all but the sportiest setting causing me to have a hard time correlating the throttle and clutch positions in a natural way.
Or in my own case:
The other day I stalled my R spec 3 times in a row before realizing it was not in Sport mode. The throttle mapping is terrible.
