Thanks for the heads up. These series need to do a better job of advertising their TV schedules particularly when a series returns. or changes. It would be nice if Xfinity/Comcast etc.. would not just list every series as "Auto racing"

$15 fuel pump in a TA car???? I think not. They need to loose the side kick announcer. Keeps talking just to here him self talk.

Holy cow, the field size- there had to be 60 cars out there.

Just a few years ago TransAm was on life support- obviously not now.

Good race and the video coverage was better this year. Having CBS I think has improved things a bit. The announcers need to stop talking so much and let the cars do the talking.

But all in all it was really great to have it on in primetime.

This is different than the Grand AM/AMLS merger stuff right?

Yes different. Mostly American v8 cars. I think there were three classes. Corvette of various vintage's Camaros vipers mustangs and chargers. Top class is all tube race cars with I think fiberglass body's that loosely look like a production car but the lower two classes the cars I think are production based. I kept seeing one 911. Not sure what that was about.

There are 3 classes, although there is basically two classes within one of those...

1) T/A --- Tube-frame beasts, around 850hp, and $$$$

2) T/A-2 --- Tube-frame, about 500hp, and only $$$

3) T/A-3 --- Production-based tub cars. This is the "dual" class, with pony cars and such in the "American Muscle" class, while "sports" cars like Viper and the 911 are in "International".

72 total cars between all classes showed up at Sebring, not sure how many qualified and raced.

Trans-Am is definitely on a nice upswing.

I heard that Tommy Kendall and some of the other old gaurd would be back this season. Is it true?

69 cars started the race. Tommy ran one of the Dodge Challengers last year in T/A-2. I have a few pics from that race of my friend Amy's car, and you can see me quite a bit in the winner circle interviews.

I've followed Trans-Am for a long time, and I have to say this was probably the best one that I've ever seen. Certainly more lead changes than probably 99% of past TA races.

CBS Sports Network will air the race again on Sunday, March 22 at 11am EST.

May have to record it as I was multitasking my sons homework while trying to watch it.

Ok so now I am going to have to watch that again. The thing is with out know who you are or what you look like actually saying we saw you may be problematic.

TA2 is spec engine and spec chassis. It's actually pretty inexpensive, which is why 50 cars have been showing up lately. The running package costs around $100k and they are very easy on consumables and the engine will last all season.

TA3-A uses NASA American Iron rules TA3-I uses SCCA GT2 rules but limits it to certain modern makes/models

I'm 6'8" in a cowboy outfit, I got a little pygmy standing right next to me, dressed just like me.

During the winner's interview, I'm wearing a grey shirt, over on the right side of the screen, over in the crowd. Certainly not anybody of major importance in the racing world.

In reply to drdisque:

I think the TA3 A rules are closer to Pirelli World Challenge GTS/Conti Tire GS rules. There's at least one team running a Camaro in TA3 and PWC-GTS.

They are showing the Pirelli World Challenge from Austin, TX right now.

Racing.. on TV.. on a weekday.. during primetime? I'm digging this.
