i went... i saw... i'm hooked...
i didn't know any of the names- i don't even know who won, since i spent the race driving around the infield watching it from various angles... we spent probably 25 of the 40 laps at the end of the longest straight where they let off after going WFO for over a mile to slow down for a 180 degree turn..
saw more Miatas running in the support races than i thought still existed in the world, and got to watch some 200+ mph drag racers over on the drag strip for a while when they were doing some of the practice over on the road course in the morning...
all in all, a day well spent..
huh... so no one cares about professional road racing on this site?
interesting..
Sure we do.
But without pictures it didn't happen...
didn't take pics... got a couple of videos, tho..

I love BIR. Shame I didn't get to make this.
the racing was cool and getting to look at the cars up close while they were blown apart for maintenance and what not was cool, but the best part was driving around out in the farthest reaches of the infield and seeing the remnants from "zoo" at the NHRA Nationals a few weeks ago... i saw a few old couches laying in what were the remains of what had to be huge bonfires.. also, they were cleaning up from the fireworks display they had on saturday night and a bunch of unused stuff exploded all at once about a half hour before the TA race... no one must have gotten hurt because i never saw an ambulance head that way, but i felt the shockwave from over 1/4 mile away...

Yeah, BIR is sorta legendary for shenanigans, those northern MN rednecks, I tell ya, they're a special breed.
TA cars are awesome. The noise is fantastic!!
Historic Trans Am was at LRP this weekend, and the Glen next weekend. These are the "west coast" cars which are (mostly) period correct; the sound and imagery are awesome.
I was suppose to be there this last weekend. I work for Bob Stretch and Wheels America. I stayed behind to do some things in the office, so I wasn't able to make it. Heard Bob and the team had some troubles.

look for "ComicOzzie Autosport Photography" on facebook; he goes to events in the Midwest and shoots; I know he has a bunch from this past weekend.
