Sorry for posting this before I follow up on my hunch, but I was rather busy over the weekend without time to take care of my car.
I've been having some intermittent issues with my 6 speed celica gt-s shifting out of first gear in the past few days. I'll disengage the clutch but it feels like something is holding it in gear. No issues shifting in or out of any other gears or into first for that matter.
My hunch, or wishful thinking is that my CAI is blocking the shifter mechanism the engine moves with accelerating. I did just clean my maf and had to take out my CAI and I put it back on without really checking/adjusting for clearance. I also am kind of concerned with the amount of gear oil in the car, I had a shop replace the clutch but I'm not sure if they refilled it with enough fluid.
Is not being able to shift out of a gear intermittently a hallmark symptom of anything? I'm hoping I dont have to open my wallet too much, but I'd like to get an idea if it is something serious.
That being said I just got 36.7 mpg from it on a recent road trip for all you guys picking one up for yourself.
