I'm with the serial number restoration.
The irony of mega dollar exotics is that you can not do enough damage to them to exceed the cost of a complete re-build. And since so many of them have already been rebuilt from a grease-spot and a serial number, and been accepted in the market, there is relatively little risk to the insurance company.
