Relating to the Smiths gauges, on the rear there are two terminals which have a dark green wire on the left and a light green wire on the right, which is power and which is ground?

That is all

The folks on the Classic Motorsports site might have a quicker answer. There's a lot of Triumph knowledge on that side of the wall.

one is power, and one is the wire to the sending unit. I had this issue with my smiths gauges. Just hook them up and you'll be able to tell using the fuel gauge (asusming your sender is good) - if they're right, the fuel gauge will read correct. If they're reversed, the gauge will be at one extreme.

Same with temp. If you have them reversed, it will read max hot when you first turn the ignition on.

Also make sure the voltage stabilizer is good. If it isn't, the gauges won't work right anyhow.

thinking about it, the light green is the power, which comes from the voltage stabilizer.

the dark green goes to the sending unit.

If there's a black wire, it is the ground for the backlighting and should be attached to the bulb base.
