So, having a lot of issues mounting these super-wide, beastly tires on my 19x10" wheels. These tires are meant for 10.5"-11.5" wheels (per Bridgestone) so they are definitely pinched on 10" wheels.

Would love any tips from pro-autocrossers that are masters of pinching tires onto wheels!

This is what we've tried so far: 1. Lots of soapy water 2. Using a strap to squeeze the tire to the wheel 3. A cheetah (150psi burst of air to the opposite side of the valve stem) 4. Pushing the tire from the opposite side to help close the gap 5. Dismounting and remounting the tire 6. Sitting on the tire while trying to air it up

The problem is that the tire is too stiff and wide for the wheel and it's pinching the bead, not allowing it to air up.

This is going on a FS Camaro 1LE. I know of at least 4 instances (2 that went to nationals) with this tire and wheel setup so it's not impossible. Might be temperature. Those guys had their tires mounted during the summer. Now it's a little cooler out.

Thank you in advance.

Try the starting fluid and a match? If nothing else it will warm things up a bit.

If available, sitting them outside in the warm sun for a while helps a lot with flexibility.

Haha, thanks for the tip. Will try sitting them outside! Not sure how comfortable I feel with the fluid and fire :P Might have to resort to doing that out of frustration!

How much time and effort have you spent vs paying a pro tire shop to install the tires?

The new 1LEs run an 11" wide wheel for the 305.

Heck my 9.5" on my BRZ only have 255s on them.

If its cold out you can try wrapping them in a electrical blanket, Without the wife seeing of course!

Haha, so the 1LE (5th gen & 6th gen-latest) have 10" in the front and 11" in the rear. Rears were definitely easier to mount!

In this case the 305s are the only option. The 1LEs are geared super tall for track so have to get shorter tires to compensate. It also a nice positive that they are super wide as well. No surprise all of the 1LEs are National were running these tires.

I'm working with a pro shop/friends on this. They are a pro motosports shop but aren't tire guys but I trust them the most because I've worked with them on tougher projects before. Got new 3-piece wheels as well for these tires.

Just waiting for the sun to come out so we can get these warmed up. Keep the tips coming!

Duct tape the tire to wheel gap to create an air seal. You have to do this on the inside and outside.

Ether works well and is pretty safe. Use a clip on air chuck with an extension and a valve like the tire shops use, and remove the schraeder valve for faster fill. Once its partially inflated you can pull the chuck off and reinsert the valve before it has time to deflate. Use a two second burst of ether into the tire, and run a trail across the sidewall as well. Then you reach over at arms length and light the ether trail with a striker. The flame travels into the tire, Lights the mixture, big bang, and quickly get the air going while it the tire is seated. If you are sweating, use a shorter burst to get the hang of it, but remember......

God hates a coward.

Why not set the wheel over a hot engine bay?
