This is (was) Edgar the Truck, a 1976 530i. He's since gone on to that great salvage yard in the sky.
i know this is an old thread, but i love these diy conversions. saw this HHR on the road and nabbed a pic http://grassrootsmotorsports.com/reader-rides/10588/
Just makes me miss my Rampage so very much...
Eyes the 924 sitting outside.... No. Just no. I can't do it.
Still...
Sigh...
I have you all beat if you're after pis poor candidates for a pick up.
MAy I present a Reliant Rialto
And a rear engined Fiat 126
A few of the full-size car conversions were probably retired funeral flower-cars. Professional conversions rather than back-yard jobs.
These conversions are the sort of thing I love seeing, but have no desire to actually own.

Bringing back this zombie thread. Tonight while paddleboarding, I met the owner and creator of the Vanchaero. That's right, he took an Aerostar that had been sitting for a while, cut away the rear section, created a truck bed, and used the original tailgate to form the back of the cab.
I've seen it around a couple times, but still have not managed to get pictures of it. I talked with the guy for a few minutes as he was standing on a dock and I was paddling by on my way home. Nowhere as cool as an Alfamino or some of the Germanic utes, but it is still pretty cool. Way more of a truck than those car based ones. Eventually, I will get some pics of it and post it.

No, El Camino was the CHEVROLET version.
Sprint was the GMC version:
Apparently there's a sales site for flower cars: http://www.funeralcartrader.com/ It's all Caddies right now, though.
That said, man, do I ever want to do this to a car after reading this thread. I've seen tons of El Cavalieros: http://www.j-body.org/forums/read.php?f=46&t=401865&a=1
