you guys have ruined my taste and now i lust after what i would have considered pedestrian cars. Hell i was googling what a Geo Gsi, or whatever yall were talking about earlier in the thread, that wouldnt have happened a few years ago.
Some of the ones my friends consider weird, something with an F2T, miata, isuzu impulse, discovery 2, most 500 and up mercs, 540i, most sporty versions of 80s and 90s appliances, sho. list goes on and on. pretty much every visit to GRM means a googling of a random car i never considered.
things I love that my friends understand but think are misguided.
LT1 everything, LT5 ZR1, C4 corvette.
I also have a strong desire for turbo noises and fender exit exhaust, been running around with these street racers too much
You should have been reading the magazine from the mid to late nineties through the early 00's. Every month brought us four or five pages of the most in depth information about some special version of some econo box that I've never heard of let alone considered. It was a magical time and it certainly changed my entire outlook on cars. I still want a Yugo due to that article.
In reply to Nick (Bo) Comstock:
Exactly. I'd get the newest issue, and they'd be doing the mods on a pinto, for example. I'd roll my eyes, and think what a P.O.S., then read the article, then actively be dreaming about Pintos, Yugos, Sunbeam Imps, and the like. Fantastic.
I had a weird interest in Saturns well before i knew about this forum or the magazine. So I do some Google. After i bought my $200 SL1. What do I find after 27 seconds? A mid 90s GRM article about setting SL/SC2s up for road racing.

A friend of mine built an awesome high powered 4th gen fbody autox car.
He had a similar mindset to...Go Fast...lots of hp....big V8.
but one day I spied on his counter one day a copy of GRM magazine. Never asked him about it, just googled it and found you guys.
I signed up for the forum and lurked for a while then i saw a thread along the lines of
"have a family, cant have a race car.....im not gonna quit racing...help me set up my malibu got hpde events"
I thought this is dumb, then i read the whoke thread and my love for modifying appliances, unloved cars, or unknown old performance variants was born
I want a lifted late 80s Subaru Loyal wagon.

And once again I prove my GRMness! We have just purchased a 1986 Ford F250 Diesel (bullnose) 4WD regular cab manual trans brush fire truck! It is very loud with straight exhaust, Has dents and dings almost everywhere. Has 88k. It runs and drives excellent. Trying to get the last owner to retrieve the red light, radio and siren that he was told to remove. Appears to have 1 ton axles and "upgraded suspension". PO removed the Green River NC logo, 911 logo and reflective stripes with a grinder (DOH!) The department must have bought it used as it is an XLT. looking for a parts truck for straighter body panels. The 14 year old will be the primary wrench. Fun!
There's a primer gray Roadmaster for sale in the parking lot of a tire shop my coworker and I drove by today. I pointed it out to my coworker who was driving, and commented about how awesome it is, and how I wanted it. My coworker shook his head and said, "you sure have weird taste in cars, most folks want muscle cars, but you want wagons!?!?!
So I guess technically that doesn't fit this thread since I confessed that I wanted it to my coworker.
