Once the rests of the Cadaverlier project gets under way I will be looking for a suitable turbo for replacing the T25 on the TGP engine.

There is a strong possibility the 3.1L may become a 3400 internally. It will be running E85 for max boost detonation protection. I want to take advantage of the larger engine and the higher octane fuel as well as trying to get a little closer to the Nelsons of the world.

  • What is the largest T25 flanged available?
  • Would a T25 to T3 (SS Auto Chrome special) adapter be a good idea? Packaging will allow it.

Hints? Suggestions? Ideas? Ignorant?

As a previous SS Autochrome customer, I'd advise you to not bother. Other message boards are full of SSA customers with failed manifolds. If their quality of flange adapters is anything like the manifolds, then you're better off using duct tape...

While I'm not one to advise you on turbo selection, if you did want to keep the manifold and use the T3, an adapter would be something your local machine shop could make up pretty easily. but I believe the GT30 has the same manifold flange size.

SS autochrome will crack in minutes.

a T25 on a 3100 is a joke. My friend runs a SC61 on his 3.4 Camaro engine and tuned it makes 270WHP...

I would change the flange to a T3 , and open up a world of possibilities..

HOLSET!

forget E85 , u just need a good tune , and run waterinjection if you're that worried.

The E85 is a requirement for another reason. It is $1.00 per gallon less on average around here, Plus I am building the car to conform to a ruleset in my own little DARE event. If money were no object I can get a crossover with a T3 flange for my application for $575.00 plus core... That is more than I will have in the rest of the car. I am considering cutting a 1/2" mild steel flange with a T25 inlet and a T3 outlet and tapering the port to match but ones like the SSAcrap units are $40.00 and it will cost me double that much at the machine shop. I could buy the SSAcrap one and reinforce it for less.

The chip and tune I am going with is designed around a similar setup with a little more cam and has run 325whp on 93 octane running a little lean but not terrible.

Keep the ideas coming.

a t25 flange is going to limit you on my end. We only do big stuff and our stuff that fits that flange most likely would be expensive, wrecked, or a poor match.. I'd look into a T3 flange and a dodge ram turbo, should be OK.. Something like a WH1C.. I'd have to look at the 7 digit part number you have and do a match to see if it would work.. I guess.

Would the hillbilly adapter limit flow too much?

not as long as it was the same size, good transitions etc..

U won't hit 300hp on a t25...

I know, that is why I am looking to use a T3 flanged turbo if possible.

A T25 on a V6?

Those things were used on 4g63T and SR20DET 2.0L I4's. You'd be hard pressed to make 250hp.

Check out the compressor maps here.

the GT28RS is a common choice of TGP people wanting to keep the stock crossover flange.

YaNi the t25 can make a bunch of power on the 3.1 - i've seen over 250hp and 325+ ft lbs on stock turbo - it seems way small but it was engineered well and lag is nonexistant.

But you have to boost the crap out of an in-efficient t25 to get the same power u could get on something bigger.

t3/4 hybrid...

Guys have picked up 50+ RWHP on 3.4 TDC's running less boost and a bigger turbo.. Check realfierotech.com and look up Shaun hammitt, or Matt hawkins...

a T-25 is too small for my 1.6ltr Vtec

Definately go with a T25...

Just make sure you have a big brother GT35R on the other end

On a serious note, even a lot of miata guys dont waste their time with the T25. Its hugely dissapointing to run out of steam 2000rpm before redline.

Pssst! The T25 flange is also found on the T28 turbos . It's the most common flange size used on Miata turbo kits.

We go as big as a GT3071R on the T25 flange, but that's on a 2.0 not a 3.1.

I picked up 2 T3's from a 300Zx for $100 with no shaft play. I have a small holset on the bench I paid $40..

Do it right, do it once...
