I just got the latest issue... the picture shown for Mid-Ohio has the chicane but the turn-by-turn from Nonnamaker is for the configuration without it. It even says "Assuming the track is being run without the optional Keyhole Turn 2 ..." in the box but the image and the turn numbers are for the keyhole configuration.
So anyone who happened to be reading the rest and hoping to use the text to help them there... using the index... subtract two from every turn number starting with 2 = 4. It will make a lot more sense. The big tipoff: "Turn 6 is not about going fast". Then look where #6 is assigned
J.G. 'cmon man... you get an op-ed and all of a sudden start leaving the interns pulling stock photos?
And damn that keyhole chicane is fun!!!
bet it is .. . my one DE there, they wouldn't let us run the keyhole

That seems odd since it is considered the "safer" configuration of the two since you don't arrive at the entrance to 180˚ off camber right with slippery, polished asphalt at the top of 4th gear in that arrangement.
In reply to wbjones:
It's one of those turns that looks a lot slower than it is. In my turbo CRX I could enter it at around 90mph, let off the gas and let the trailing throttle oversteer help rotate it through. Once straight and headed for the 180 turn, you then brake hard and turn in. Its a real rush, at least in the combo street/track cars I've done it in.
their contention ( OVSCCA) was that the straight in approach was safer ... go figure... would have loved to have gotten a chance to drive the keyhole
When I did my driving school there the Keyhole was one of my favorite parts. It was the only place on the track that I could close up on the instructor, Tommy Byrne. I really need to get back on the track again.
aha, I see the need for a "I've run the keyhole" bumper sticker
