In Japan at least. Sort of. You could call it Corvett-y...

Someone's Challenge RX-7 NEEDS this.

Wow. It's cheap enough. Where else can you get that kind of exclusivity for only 300 bucks?

It's fantastic in the worst way possible.

You could LS1 swap this for possibly the most pointless waste of time outside of my project cars.

I like it more than a normal c3. Hell, I could probably actually drive it, unlike a real c3.

Just think, a nice stock early RX7 is probably worth more than a comparable C3 Vette.

That's just dumb.

" I'd even go as far to say that there are probably no RX-7s still on the road with this kit. Not that there should be..."

The ad made me lol

I almost wish I had a first gen RX7 to bestow this level of awesomeness upon. On the other hand it looks like a vehicular hermaphrodite and should be killed with fire. So many conflicting emotions!!

If this was closer I'd buy it. I'm just that dumb. It would also be super awesome to show up to RX nationals and have someone protest me.

Personally, I find it to be one of those things that is simply too bizarre not to preserve.

I feel like this needs to go on an LS swapped car. It'd be like a C3 vette, except lighter and more powerful.

It was already done back in 73.

I like this angle better:

Heck they even did a 4 rotor engine. Got to remember GM was deep into the wankel development and put together a 2 rotor and 4 rotor mid engine vette for the show circuit.

the front looks a bit off.. but the rear is what the c3 (and C4) vettes needed.. a working hatch! It looks good from the rear quarter

That car still exists at the Corvette Museum, although the engine went MIA many years ago. It was also mid-engine and used one of those Pontiac Tempest TempesTorque rear-mounted transaxles.

The GM rotary project was actually part of a AMC/GM joint venture that never panned out. The AMC Pacer was actually designed to use that rotary engine that was supposed to result, but after a number of setbacks and the program being cancelled, the old AMC straight-six got jammed in it instead.

I'm aware of the Aerovette prototype, the title of this thread is a tongue-in-cheek nod

Later c3 and all c4 vettes have hatches don't they?

Edit: in answer to my own query only the collectors edition c3 hatch operated. Ugh! The c4 though I think they all did.
