I don’t have nice cars. I don’t have or drive new cars. But once a year I get a complimentary BMW loaner car when I get my 17 year old Z4’s oil changed.
Last year it was an X1, which was super boring to drive but partly because it’s just a sharper knife— I was taking corners in it faster than in the Z4 but it felt uneventful.
This year it was a twin turbo 320ish hp X5 <<EDIT: no, it was actually a 2021 X3 single turbo, because I do not know how to read>>, fully loaded. Brother, was it SLOW off the line!! I was thoroughly unimpressed. Does anyone really like turbo over super? I’m assuming that up until 3k that hp figure is like half of peak. Lag is lame

Internet says peak torque is at 1500rpm, so it's not that. But it also weighs 5000lbs, so it's not like 330hp/tq is an abundance of power.

I have a twin turbo 335is 320HP 332 lb-ft of torque and 370 lb-ft for 7 seconds with overboost function.... It's definitely not slow off the line
Isn't the only x5 worth leasing, the x5m competition ?
0-60 3.7 sec doesn't seem too slow for that twin turbo beast.
Lease, abuse, dump it. 600-617hp that you don't have to maintain gives lots of smiles per miles
Oops! My mistake. I just looked at the VIN and it's a 2021 X3, not 5. xDrive30i. And I don't see any literature that it's 320 hp but there was this nifty little gauge on the dash that showed me the HP I was making or using and it went to 320. I am confused.
Sheesh and I just re-read the engine cover. "TwinPower" Turbo != "twin turbo"
*eyeroll* okay I'm illiterate, don't mind me.
But still, there was a dash indicator...

xDrive30i.
That has 248-hp turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder under its hood
Wait. You go to the BMW dealer with a 17 YO Z4 for oil changes?!
TwinPower means it's a TwinScroll turbo right? BMW's alpha numeric naming is a relative performance rating not a displacement and I don't like it.
I'm getting 319ti badges for my car....

If you disapprove of BMWs numbers, go back to the 70s. They did fine for a while with the x28i and x30i cars, then they made the x33i and x35i(most) cars that had 3.2 and 3.4L engines. Don't get me started on the 745i. Numbers have long been a normative thing for them, and not necessarily representative of reality.

My 2014 x3 35i is spritely, 14.1 1/4 mile bone stock. Its zippy around town too, but the height and weight seriously compromise the handling. The turbo is quite entertaining.
I tested the 4 banger, ok but not thrilling.

Yeah it’s like $80 just for the oil and supplies for me to do it myself. For an extra $30-40 I get to drive a brand new BMW for the day plus they wash it and clean it out.

Yup. If the numbers tracked displacement exactly, they'd have to call my car a 744i instead of a 740i. And then they called the following generation (with the same size engine) a 745, then later a 750 when it went from 4.4 to 4.8 liters. And the 5.4 liter V12s were 750s...

When you put it that way..

An even better value if you avail yourself of the complimentary designer coffee, snacks and fresh fruit at what is temporarily the largest new BMW dealer in the world (on a square footage - not sales - basis).

I always get a kick when a bit of C programming language works its way into non-software posts.

Not to mention the eye candy - at our local Bmw dealer (which is the largest by sales volume )
