What a big bloated mother of all that isn't good and holy. Trading in the Avalanche with 177k of glory on it.
Sad times. I really wanted the better on fuel minivan. Oh well, if it keeps momma "happy"....
The vehicle that we first looked at for comparison was a new body Durango based off the MB ML350... Dog!!! Disappointed with such promise with a Hemi and 8 speeds....
New Suburban? You should write a review for the forum, been extremely curious about these!
New-to-me 2012 with 54k on it, topaz blue, 4wd, and no luxobarge autoride crap. In comparison to the Av, second verse, same as the first.

I'm a big suburban fan, so err congrats to your wife I guess.
I bet you'll like it more than you're proposing here. I got my dollar!
This is not about a Subaru, is it?

That was the first thing that came to my mind when I saw the title, then a Subaru, then a tasty sammich, and now I'm hungry.

I've been very happy with both of my Suburbans, but they're mostly for roadtrips and towing.
I'm sure you'll end up loving it, regardless.
I too was hoping you were talking about the newest one. I think they're the most attractive large SUV in.....ever, but I don't know anyone who has lived with one yet.

You thought that the Hemi with the 8 speed was a dog?!?!? I have the 3.6 w/8 speed in the Grand Cherokee and I think it's quite snappy. Maybe not bury your ass into the seat but definitely not slow. It helps to turn the Eco button off for some better transient throttle response. Or the race mode for the best out of the engine. Did the Durango have the Race Mode? I know it has the paddles and the Eco button.

Ha! You can make your own parking spot if it is 'equipped' properly!
First thought jimmy johns, second thought Subaru. Suburbans are neat too though, in a practical ish kind of way. Congrats

A local dealer had advertised a 3/4 ton Suburban with manual transmission, 4WD, and 14k miles. 1980, I think. I was all ready to jump on that, so I phoned.
Turned out to be a K20 pickup with 14k on the engine and 184k on the chassis. They wanted $6500, it's worth maybe $3000.

Why so glum, you could do a lot worse than a 2012 Suburban. That right there is just about one of the most perfect road trip vehicles ever made. After my brother's experience with a Durango, I would take any year's Suburban over the same year Durango in a heartbeat.
It happened.
Out with the old....
In with the new to me....

Nice. I think that era was the nicest looking Suburban/Yukon/Tahoe that they have made.
