I finally had a day off with nothing to do, so changing the shocks on the miata was the task of the day. I had been soaking all the suspension bolts for weeks with pb blaster, had my parts lined up, and was ready to go.
I started with the left rear, get the top hat bolts loosened, jack the car up start removing the lower bolt and break it loose. During the process the freaking nut gives up the ghost and the bolt just spins, no forward progress. Time to order a salvage lower control arm. Figure I will give the other side a go, start taking off the top hat bolts and one comes off fine, start the other one and it starts to crumble into a rusty powder.
It is not even 10 AM and I give up, utterly frustrating. I intentionally did not use any impact tools with the hope of not breaking anything on this rust bucket, and end up shooting myself in the foot anyway.
Question, where would you recommend getting rear control arms, should I get some with poly/delrin bushings already installed?
